Our congregation was organized in 1889, when the first worship services took place in the old Sea Cliff Hotel. Mr. F. W. Geissenhainer, one of the "founding fathers" of Sea Cliff, donated a parcel of land to the congregation for a new church; and we are still located on this parcel today. The cornerstone for the new St. Luke's Church was laid in 1892, and the church was completed about a year later. The Rt. Rev. Abram Littlejohn, the first Bishop of Long Island, formally consecrated the church to public worship on the Feast of St. Peter, June 29, 1899.
